Abstract
The paper presents an experimental approach to establish empirical models of pilot’s visual behaviour in certain low-level flight situations. The experimentad design mainly includes the presentation of typical flight mission segments to pilots as video replay and the measurement of their eye movements in the visual out-of-the-cockpit scene. The experiments were carried out with pilots who had low-level flight experience. The pilot’s subjective evaluations concerning the realism of the flight replay and their task assignment are positive throughout. Objective evaluations lead to the elicitation of dependencies between low-level flight situations and the pilot’s visual perception strategies.
