Abstract
This paper investigates the chaotic behavior exhibited by a typical ferroresonant circuit in neutral-grounded system. In this paper the core loss of power transformer is modeled by a third order series in voltage and the magnetization characteristics of transformer is modeled by an 11th order two-term polynomial. Numerous simulations were carried out to analyze the effect of nonlinear core loss on transformer ferroresonance. The simulation results demonstrate that i) the core loss model of transformer is an important factor in obtaining the chaotic behavior of ferroresonance, ii) connecting the neutral resistance to the system exhibits a great mitigating effect on the voltage ferroresonance.
