Abstract
This paper presents the structures of the two kinds of switched reluctance linear motor (SRLM) and their mathematical models, which are longitudinal flux bilateral (LFB) SRLM and transverse flux bilateral (TFB) SRLM. The structure parameter sensitivity of the two structures of bilateral SRLM is analyzed, and the final geometry size is designed for enhancing the one phase average thrust at a certain volume. The comparison of LFB SRLM and TFB SRLM is performed in the calculated one phase thrust. It is shown that the one phase average thrust on per-unit volume of LFB SRLM is larger than that of TFB SRLM. An LFB SRLM prototype is developed. It is shown that the calculated results on one phase thrust are close to the test results. Thus, the comparison of the two kinds of SRLM in the calculated one phase thrust is credible.
