Abstract
A 3-D substantial model is built for an ultra-high voltage transformer coil, the equipotential shielding and the bushing end. This model is properly simplified according to the symmetrical structure of the coil. The electric field intensity distribution around the transformer high-voltage coil and the equipotential shielding are calculated on the basis of the finite element method, especially the maximum electric field intensity is found. With the zero-order optimization method, the maximum electric field intensity is significantly decreased by 27%. The calculation and optimization results provide basis for designing the coil and equipotential shielding of an ultra-high voltage transformer.
