Abstract
Electrets prepared from polystyrene and Mylar were exposed to low pressure. The measured surface charge of the electrode decreased as the pressure was reduced from 760 torr to 10−2 torr. An interpretation of this charge behavior is given in terms of a spark breakdown mechanism.
