Elastic constants determination in piezoelectric CT complex of carbazole-1,3,5-trinitrobenzene by brillouin scattering technique

Abstract

The Brillouin scattering spectra in carbazole-l,3,5-trinitrobenzene CT complex have been studied. The values of all elastic constants were determined at 298 K using the measured longitudinal and transverse sound velocities for different phonon directions: C 11 = 12.13, C 22 = 9.52, C 33 = 14.67, C 44 = 3.92, C 55 = 1.40, C 66 = 2.16, C 12 = 2.58, C 13 = 2.97 and C 23 = 7.41 in units of 10 9 N m −2. Brillouin spectra from longitudinal phonons propagating along [100] have been measured in the temperature range 90–300 K.
