Abstract

This article analyses the dramaturgy and mise en scene of the play Yuri Sam. Una oracion (2003), which is the masterpiece of one of the most innovative and talented groups in Basque theatre over the lasts years: the Fabrica de Teatro Imaginario. The play consist in an intercultural and intracultural journey across Indian and Balinese theatrical techniques, mapuche ceremonies and traditional Basque forms, resulting in an original ritual performance where the actor becomes a shaman in order to produce a cathartic experience among the public.
