Abstract

Abstract It is necessary to promote the teaching of sustainability and environmental education at all educational levels. Therefore, schools should be involved in the protection of the environment, given the damage that has been caused to it today. This opinion article aims to reflect on the importance of sustainability in the well-being and quality of life of students. For this reason, a critical and emancipatory approach was adopted that seeks, through environmental education, the formation of a generation of ecologically conscious learners committed to preserving the planet. It can be concluded that environmental education is fundamental to conserve the environment, in addition to seeking its sustainable development, which should be present in all social scenarios.
