Abstract
The present study performs an interpretation of the iconography of the vessels recorded in sector III in the Pallka archaeological site. This ceramic material, that comes from archaeological excavations, was analyzed later following a detailed description of each decorative detail, in addition to comparative analyzes of interpretations made by other researchers. The analysis of the iconography where these vessels were recorded indicates that the Middle Horizon in the Casma Valley is a period marked by continuous cultural interactions, which served to legitimize the role and justify the power of local leaders. The context where the ceramic material was registered (funerary structure) allows supporting the leadership and prestige of the local elites and the processes of political, economic and ideological integration that occurred in the Casma valley, during a period marked by ideological mechanisms that promoted intense interaction and regional integration.
