Abstract
In the wake of the energy reform bill submitted in Mexico in 2013, a series of semiotic-discursive productions were generated, the great majority of which opposed its passage. The purpose of this paper is the analysis of (im) polite discursive communities: the chamber of senators and chamber of deputies; specifically a speech against it, given by Senator Layda Sansores San Román (left-wing), and two speeches by Ricardo Anaya Cortés (right-wing). When Ricardo Anaya was president of the Chamber of Deputies, he read the enactment of that Law and, subsequently, as presidential pre-candidate, delivered another speech opposing that same law.
