Abstract

Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC) of 5G has performance requirements of ultra low latency, high reliability, high availability and co-existence along with massive connection density. According to 3GPP Technical Specification (TS) 38.913 [1], New Radio (NR) should support latencies as less as 0.5ms uplink/downlink and reliability of 99.99% for URLLC communication. For high reliability, device may have to retransmit packets, due to challenges in wireless medium, which leads to additional delay. Hence, achieving very low latency along with high reliability is an open problem area for URLLC. To solve the above problem, to the best of our knowledge, this paper for first time proposes a new call flow where paging message is to be enhanced in such way that random access for connection resumption case for URLLC devices can be faster and reliable. With proposed idea the system is able to achieve 99.99% of reliability and reduce the collision probability of Random Access (RACH) to 0.001% than conventional method. The above reduction in collision also further improves latency.
