Abstract

This study investigated changes in the characteristics of ZnO-coated MgO nanowires resulting from application of a thermal annealing process. Thermal annealing affected the structural morphology, contributing to agglomeration of particle-like structures in the coated ZnO shell. The annealed ZnO was crystalline whereas the as-deposited ZnO was amorphous. Thermal annealing increased the relative photoluminescence intensity of the green light emission.
