Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of statins on second prevention of ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack. Methods 60 cases with ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack which were collected from March 2006 to January 2007 were divided into control group and statins-treating group randomly.The control group only received routine treating containing rehabilitation care and risk factors controlling. The statins-treating group received atorvastatin 20 mg qd except routine treating. The incidence of ischemic stroke/transient ischemic attack recurrence, death, other heart-cerebral vessel events were collected within 3 years. Results The incidence of ischernic stroke/transient ischemic attack recurrence, coronary artery events in statinstreating group was lower significantly than in the control group, and no significantly deference was found in the incidence of death and encephalorrhagia between two groups. Conclusion Statins can reduce incidence of ischemic/transient ischemic attack recurrence, coronary artery events. Key words: Ischemic stroke/ransient ischemie attack; Statins; Second prevention
