Abstract

Sonocatalysis has received much attention due to its ability to completely degrade organic matter without secondary contamination. However, there are still different opinions about the factors affecting sonocatalysis, such as the role of the piezoelectric coefficient in the sonocatalytic process needs to be clarified. To understand the influence of piezoelectric coefficient, Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-xSrTiO3 (NBT-xST, 0.20 ≤x ≤ 0.30) with different piezoelectric coefficients and different phase states (ferroelectric phase/relaxor) were obtained. The sonocatalytic experiments revealed a significant correlation between the piezoelectric coefficient and the catalytic performance in the ferroelectric phase. Still, more influencing factors need to be considered in the relaxor region.
