Abstract

Alkali-treated bamboo fiber (BF) was used to reinforce the oil well cement, and the reinforced cement was analyzed by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and mechanical testing. The results demonstrated that BF obtained a larger surface area for leaching out the cementing materials during 10% NaOH solution treatment. Appropriate alkali-treated BF content can effectively improve toughness, flexural strength and splitting tensile strength of oil well cement due to finer dispersion of alkali-treated BF inside the cement, better interfacial adhesion with cement matrix and denser microstructure of alkali-treated BF-reinforced cement.
