Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of valsartan combined with Yishen Huashi granules on renal function in patients with chronic glomerulonephritis and its safety. Methods The selected cases were randomly divided into a control group and a study group in average. The control group were treated with conventional western medicine (calsartan capsules) for 8 weeks, and the study group with conventional western medicine and Yishen Huashi granules for 8 weeks. The total curative effect and the Scr, BUN, ALB, 24 h urinary protein quantitative determination were observed. Before and after the treatment, the lumbar debility, edema, and fatigue degree were judged. The adverse reactions during the treatment were observed. Results The levels of Scr, BUN, and 24 h urinary protein were significantly lower and the level of ALB was significantly higher after than before the treatment in both groups and were so in the study group than in the control group after the treatment, with statistical differences (all P 0.05). Conclusion Yishen Huashi granules combined with valsartan in the treatment of chronic glomerulonephritis can significantly improve the patients’ renal function and TCM syndromes and is safe.
