Abstract

The effect of the deuteron D-state on exact finite-range DWBA calculations has been studied for l = 1 transitions in two reactions: 40 Ca(d, p) 41 Ca leading to the 2.47( 3 2 −) and 3.95 MeV ( 1 2 −) levels for incident deuteron energies of 7 and 9 MeV and 16 O(p, d) 15 O leading to the ground ( 1 2 −) and 6.18 MeV ( 3 2 −) states for incident proton energies of 25.52, 30 and 31.82 MeV. Spectroscopic factors have been extracted for calculations with and without a lower radial cut-off and compared to the corresponding zero-range predictions. The effect of the deuteron D-state on the j -dependence shown by the differential cross sections, analysing powers and polarizations has been investigated
