Abstract

PVDF based thin films are flexible and can be easily fabricated. Fabricated thin films exhibit good piezoelectricity but need mechanical stretching for piezoelectric enhancement. The addition of nanoparticles can enhance the piezoelectricity of the polymer material. PVDF-ZnO nanocomposite thin films were prepared by solvent casting method for two different nanoparticle sizes (20 nm and 50 nm). The fabricated thin films were characterized using DC-EFM and ATR-IR spectra. The spectroscopy results indicates the effect of particle size on the piezoelectric property enhancement of the thin polymer films. The obtained results open a new hope for designing more complex device structures using PVDF-ZnO nanocomposite.
