Effect of milli fire needle, vitiligo granules, and narrow band ultraviolet B triple therapy on the expression of IL-17, IL-10, and IL-22 in the peripheral blood of patients with vitiligo

Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of milli fire needle, vitiligo granules, and narrow band ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) triple therapy on the expression of interleukin (IL)-17, IL-10, and IL-22 in the peripheral blood of patients with vitiligo. Methods A total of 100 patients with vitiligo from the Department of Dermatology, People's Hospital of Yangjiang City from January 10, 2015 to December 1, 2017 were selected and were divided into two groups according to the digital table method. 50 patients in the observation group A were treated with vitiligo granules and NB-UVB, 50 patients in the observation group B were treated with milli fire needle based on the observation group A. The normal control group consisted of 50 healthy people from the outpatient department of Yangjiang People's Hospital during the same period. The clinical parameters of the three groups were compared. Results The total response rate in the observation group B (98.00%) was significantly higher than that in the observation group A (80.00%) (χ2=8.273 7, P=0.000 0). After 12 weeks of treatment, the levels of IL-17 and IL-22 in the observation group A, B significantly decreased (P<0.05), those in the observation group B were even lower (t=3.854 1, P=0.000 0; t=5.623 6, P=0.000 0); the level of IL-10 in the observation group A, B significantly increased (P<0.05), that in the observation group B was even higher (t=7.180 5, P=0.000 0). Conclusion Milli fire needle, vitiligo granules, and NB-UVB triple therapy has significant therapeutic effect in the treatment of vitiligo, effectively reduces the symptoms of skin lesions, improves symptoms of traditional Chinese medicine, which may be related to the reduction of inflammatory reactions.
