Abstract

The undoped Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles and Magnesium doped Zinc Oxide nanoparticles were produced by sol–gel method and the obtained nanoparticles were annealed at 400 °C. The effect of magnesium as dopant at various molar concentrations (Zn1-x Mgx O; x = 0, 0.2, 0.4) on the Structural, Optical, Morphological and Electrical properties were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis spectrophotometer, Photo luminescence, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) and Electron Impedance Spectroscopy. The XRD pattern confirms wurtzite structure without secondary phase in Mg substituted ZnO samples. Magnesium substitution decreases the crystallite size as the percentage of Magnesium is increased. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was carried out to analyze the electrical properties of undoped ZnO and Magnesium doped Zinc Oxide nanoparticles.
