Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of evidence-based nursing and health education on self-care agency and treatment compliance among patients with chronic hepatitis B.Methods Totals of 122 patients with chronic hepatitis B between December 2011 and December 2012,were randomly divided into control group ( n=61) and study group (n =61).Study group received evidence-based nursing and health education, while control group received routine nursing care.Results The statistically significant differences could be found in each dimension of self nursing ability after intervention in the study group ( t=2.150,2.912,2.033,3.311, 2.875,respectively;P〈0.05),nursing-skill (26.91 ±5.60 vs 24.67 ±5.90),self-concept (20.08 ±3.01 vs 18.46 ±2.92),self-responsibility (19.41 ±2.98 vs 17.46 ±2.93),health knowledge (47.84 ±7.41 vs 43.28 ±5.77),and self nursing ability total scores (113.91 ±13.42 vs 103.87 ±11.22).While the control group’s difference was only found in self-responsibility (P〉0.05).After 3 months and 6 months discharge from hospital, ALT in experimental group were significantly lower than that in control group respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (67.2 ±26.3 vs 95.8 ±31.1, 43.7 ±13.6 vs 72.4 ±17.5;t =-3.020, -3.206,respectively;P 〉0.05).Conclusions Evidence-based nursing and health education method can improve the patients’ self-nursing ability and treatment compliance.
