Abstract
This paper proposed Phase Lag (PL) model of Buck converter with Constant On-time (COT) Control. Delay of control circuit, caused by finite bandwidth of comparator and power device gate charge, introduces transient response deterioration and switching frequency limitation. The paper proposed small signal model with time delay in control loop. The time domain waveforms are transferred to frequency domain by describe function (DF) method. The proposed Phase Lag (PL) model shows phase deviation due to inherent delay of COT control. Simulation results are in good agreement with proposed PL model. Finally critical delay time is given as guideline of high power density and high frequency converter with COT control.
