Abstract

Background: Gouty arthritis is when the body cannot control uric acid so excess uric acid builds up which causes joint and bone pain. The highest prevalence of gout arthritis in North Kalimantan Province was 0.41% at the age of 50-69 years. One of the non-pharmacological therapies to reduce arthritis pain is by compressing cinnamon using hot water. because cinnamon can suppress cytokines associated with arthritis pain.
 Objective: to find out how the effectiveness of cinnamon in reducing pain intensity in arthritis sufferers with gout.
 Methods: This study uses a literature review design. The data used were taken from four databases, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Proquest, and PubMed. and were searched based on specified inclusion and exclusion criteria. Article search results are presented in the PRISMA diagram. The articles obtained are then performed through Critical Appraisal and due diligence using Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) tools and then analyzed using the simplified thematic approach.
 Results: The search results obtained as many as 1.410 articles from the four databases. The search limit was in the form of Indonesian and English articles from 2018-2023. and a total of ten articles were researched.
 Conclusion: Therapy using cinnamon (Cinnamomum Burman) is effective in reducing the arthritis pain scale. Several ways can be used for therapy using cinnamon, including the first, compressing warm water, the second, consuming cinnamon concoction using honey, the third, consuming cinnamon herbal medicine, then the fourth, consuming cinnamon supplements, and the fifth using a cream medicine from the cinnamon tree.
