Abstract

Stanisław Jachowicz (1796–1857) was one of the first Polish children's writers, next to Klementyna Hoffmanowa of the Tańskis. At the same time, he is considered to be the first native fairy tale writer specializing in the creation of rhymed fairy tales and stories for children. So far, no special or separate attention has been paid to editions of his literary works in the research on the output of Stanisław Jachowicz. The content of the edition of the writer's works is an interesting source of knowledge both about the tendency to publish literature for children and about the reception of Jachowicz's famous fairy tales and cartoons
