Abstract

At present, higher universities of traditional Chinese medicine in China are undergoing a period of reform. Chinese higher educational institutions are expected to play an important role in this process, and these situations in medical related universities are more serious, because of more non-medical specialties have been constructed this century. Though the dilemmas which plagued China's past education reformers remain unresolved, there are new developments in the field of educational reform in higher universities of traditional Chinese medicine that are based on four interrelated sections. The first is the speciality setup and discipline development, the second is the teaching method and the ideology of running universities, the third is the teaching staff and condition, and the last one is students overall development and internationalization. This study could provide a strategy to educational and teaching reform in higher universities of traditional Chinese medicine in China.
