Abstract

Auris Nasus Larynx, the official English-language journal of the Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Society of Japan, Inc. was first published in 1972, has provided an opportunity for researchers to publish articles concerning the basic and clinical aspects or otorhinolaryngology and related fields including otology, audiology, laryngology, rhinology, allergology, head and neck medicine and oncology, maxillofacial and plastic surgery, bronchoesophagology, dysphagia, speech sciences and pathology. The attractive submission is welcome not only from otolaryngologists but also from related physicians, therapists, and scientists. In 2019, we received 867 submissions and a careful and prompt review was carried out. The average period between the submission and the online publication was a quarter of a year. At this time, it is my great honor to take the Editor-in-Chief of Auris Nasus Larynx after Prof. Takashi Nakagawa. Because of his great editorship and efforts, the periods of peer review have been shortened and the impact factor (1.436 in 2019) has increased. In order to enhance the efficacy and quality of our reviews, we have revised and decided to expand our editorial board. We are glad to announce that Prof. Shinichi Iwasaki will lead the editorial committee as a Deputy Editor in cooperation with Prof. Takashi Nakagawa as an Executive Board Member. Dr. Noriaki Aoi, Dr. Satoshi Kano, Dr. Shin Kariya, Prof. Tadashi Kitahara, Dr. Masayoshi Kobayashi, Dr. Kenji Kondo, Dr. Tatsuo Matsunaga, Prof. Seiichi Nakata, Dr. Makoto Ogawa, Prof. Takenori Ogawa, Prof. Yorihisa Orita, Prof. Takeshi Oshima, Prof. Yasuhiro Tanaka, Dr. Rumi Ueha, Dr. Ryuji Yasumatsu will assist Prof. Iwasaki as new Associate Editors. In addition, Dr. Anais Rameau (USA), Dr. Mark Zafereo (USA) will join the International Editorial Board. This enhanced editorial board will continue enhancing high publication standards. We very much appreciate all voluntary reviewers, from around the world, and carefully selected in accordance with a field of the submitted paper. Finally, but not least, gratitude is also owed to our publisher, Elsevier Science, in our joint effort to continue to produce a high-quality journal and the supports of the editorial office of the Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Society of Japan, Inc.
