Abstract

This chapter reviews three of the early control textbooks in Japan: (1) Jidouseigyo no Riron to Jissai (Control Theory and Practice), (2) Jidouseigyo Nyumon (Introduction to Control Theory), and (3) Jidouseigyo Rironi (Automatic Control Theory). Jidouseigyo no Riron to Jissai consists of two volumes. The first volume highlights structure and classification of control systems. The second volume highlights evaluation of control theory through experiments and remarks on previous control theory. Jidouseigyo Nyumon was revised 4 times and has been the best sold book in control theory in Japan. The book describes the basic idea of the control and gives its brief history. Jidouseigyo Rironi covers almost all control approaches for single input single output systems before the introduction of state space.
