Abstract

Approximately 1 in 5, or 20% of people are diagnosed with dyslexia, a neurobiological disorder affecting visual and auditory processing as well as memory. Challenges associated with dyslexia include not only difficulty with reading and writing but also early recognition of symptoms by health care providers and educators. A collaborative approach will lead to early detection and intervention, which is vital to ad dressing the multifaceted learning and social implications associated with dyslexia.
