Abstract

Journal of the American Society for Naval EngineersVolume 60, Issue 4 p. 505-540 DYNAMIC STRENGTH Manley St. Denis, Mr. St. Denis received his education in naval architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from which institution he was granted the degree of B.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in 1932. He subsequently undertook postgraduate work at the University of Pennsylvania, at the University of Hawaii, from which institution he was granted the degree of M.S. in Mathematics in 1940, and at the Catholic University of America. After working one year in the field of Civil Engineering and three years in the Hull Scientific section of the New York Shipbuilding Corporation, he went to the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. Three years later he was transferred to the Bureau of Ships where he remained for nine years, during the last six of which he was head of the Hull Scientific Section.
