Abstract
At the beginning of the features of Divan poetry, undoubtedly comes metaphor. In this poem that is a tradition poem, metaphor also forms the thickest ring of this tradition chain. This is why Divan poetry is called 'mazmun literature'. Metaphor, in general, at first glance reveals a meaning beyond the understanding of the poetry, reaching a hidden layer of amazement in the depths of the word ore. Divan poetry differs from other poetry by its witty and surprising new meanings behind the apparent meanings, thanks to the hidden meanings that words load over time. It is also a truth accepted among divan poets that metaphor emerged through the skill of speaking and saying. In poetry, which consists of meaning and speech, metaphor is considered together with the skill of speaking. The vocabulary of metaphors is based on the invisible, not the obvious but the indirect. The 'Gil u Gul' is a small allegorical story, which first appeared in the introduction to Sadi's 'Bostan'. After Sadi, who tells the story of Gil's smell, which means earth, he tried to establish a meaning relationship between the smell of rose and the smell of soil in his Divan poem. In this study, divans of divan poets will be scanned and the meaning of 'Gil u Gul' metaphor used in Divan poetry will be tried to be revealed.

(Sûdi-i Bosnevî:2012: 37) Gil, Divan şiirinde âb (su) ile birlikte bir terkip halinde ‘âb u gil’ genellikle insanın yaratıldığı ‘balçık’ anlamında kullanılmıştır. Özellikle de tasavvufi şiirde, Hz. Muhammed güle, peygamberlik ise daima gül bahçesine (gülzâr) benzetilmiştir.
