Abstract
Dental implants may fracture, and frequently excessive bone removal has to be performed in order to remove the apical fragment. In such instances, staged bone augmentation is indicated, creating more trauma, longer treatment time, and additional cost to the patient. Virtual surgical planning and guided surgery may increase the accuracy of the procedure and reduce treatment time. Through a case report, we show the use of digital planning and guided surgery to optimize implant removal, simultaneous implant placement, and bone augmentation.
