Abstract

As important pathomycetes of mycosis, dimorphic fungi often cause severe infection tha t requirs systemic therapy.Although most dimorphic fungi are susceptive to antifungal agents, case reports of dimorphic fungi with resistance to antifungals have been increasing in recent years. It has been demonstrated that the resistance to azoles is associated with the mutation of CYP51 gene and abnormal expression of efflux pump genes. In addition, dimorphic fungus-produced melanin can reduce the fungal susceptibility to amphotericin B in vitro, however,it is unknown whether melanin has similar effect in vivo.
