Abstract
ABSTRACT Transformative experience has become increasingly important for both academics and tourism industries. This study aims to investigate the relationships between transformative tourism experience’s dimensions, tourist engagement, and loyalty, under the moderating effect of openness to experience. Through a survey on 310 tourists participating in meditation trips in Vietnam, we found that the transformative tourism experience has less influence on tourists’ behaviours than previously expected. Such experience can encourage engagement in activities at the destination, especially for individuals who are more open to new experience. However, it has limited influence on the development of tourists’ loyalty. The findings are discussed, and implications are provided
