Abstract

The problem of higher education diversification is under discussion in the article. The aim of it is analysis, specification of information on this topic and discovery of possible variants of problem solution when training of personnel for metallurgical production. The term “diversification” has different meanings according to the sphere of use and the authors bring their viewing of education diversification. They present it as provision of multi-vector character of education system development in general and its components in particular. It leads to the creation of favorable conditions for forming the person of wide-ranging knowledge and competencies, demanded in the field of professional activity. Along with this, the authors compare substantive aspects of the terms “diversification”, “commercialization” and “innovation”. They describe the principles of diversification in education (motion, personal orientation, variety, humanization, innovation), analyze diversification background formed in the actual system of higher education in the Russian Federation. Basing on the results of the study the authors concluded that there is the shift of emphasis on structural optimization of education system. They draw attention to the importance of search for variants of educational programs diversification and algorithms of its fulfilment. The authors bring possible forms and examples of educational programs diversification. Among these forms, they name specification of educational programs «Metallurgy» under field of education taking into account spheres, types, contents of tasks and objects of professional activity of graduates. Another form is actual inclusion of optional subjects in the curriculum, of which there are humanitarian subjects etc. Consequently, diversification trend should provide orientation for development and innovation for education programs designers and all the participants of the educational process educational process of training metallurgists.
