Abstract

Using Byerly's method as modified by Hodgson and Milne the direotion of faulting in the case of the Great Assam Earthquake of August 1950 has been calculated . The results show that the displacement took plaoe in a normal fault striking East, West and dipping to the North at an angle of 75°, the hanging wall side moving down and slightly West with respect to the footwall side.
