Abstract

Abstract Diorganotin(IV) derivatives of β-ketoimine-N-acetic acids of the types R2Sn[OC(O)CH2NHC(CH3):CHC(O)R]Cl (I) and R2Sn[OC(O)CH2NHC(CH3):CHC(O)R]2 (II) (where R = Me, Bu, Ph and R′ = Me, Ph) have been synthesized by the reaction of potassium salts of β-ketoimine-N-acetic acids and diorganotin dichloride in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratio in benzene, respectively. The formation of compounds of the type (III) has been achieved by abstraction of HCl by adding Et3N to the benzene solution of (I). All compounds (I, II and III) are generally yellow or cream coloured solids and soluble in common organic solvents. These newly synthesized derivatives have been characterised by elemental and spectral analyses. IR and NMR studies of these complexes show the bidentate behaviour of the ligand in (I) and (II) and tridentate behaviour in (III).
