Abstract
Background. Cardiometabolic & mental health cases were long-term illnesses which can affect workers in critical industry such as oil and gas refineries. They should be monitored continuously with illness fatality prevention program. Fit-to-work recategorization should be evaluated after the implementation of digital transformation strategies based on existing diagnosis category. Methods. The specific features or capabilities of digital transformation intervention included an integrated digital platform, real-time monitoring, telehealth integration, and a user-friendly interface. The baseline characteristics of the control group was 2021 traditional hardcopy monitoring, meanwhile the intervention group used 2022-2023 digital monitoring system. Descriptive statistics determined the significance of the observed mean fit-to-work score recategorization improvements. Results. There were 47 employees who digitally monitored with hypertension (47%), diabetes mellitus (30%), heart disease (11%), and mental health (4%). The mean fit to work status improvement was 2% in 2022 (before digital transformation monitoring). In 2023, annual MCU showed 12% average fit to work status improvement. The highest percentage of fit to work improvement showed in heart disease category (55%) after digital transformation monitoring. Discussion. The findings underscore the importance of digital transformation in enhancing health monitoring practices in industrial settings. The intervention group exhibited better outcomes in fit-to-work recategorization compared to the control group, emphasizing the potential of technology in optimizing occupational health management. Conclusion. Chronic disease digital monitoring positively influences the fit-to-work recategorization process. Digital transformation in occupational health practices within oil and gas refineries can improve a proactive and efficient approach to managing workers' long-term illnesses to increase productivity.
