Abstract

To understand the difficulties faced by people with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) undergoing hemodialysis treatment. Descriptive exploratory study, with a quantitative approach, carried out with 37 patients with DM, in a hemodialysis institution, in the city of João Pessoa/PB, using a form, analyzed using descriptive statistics. Patients face difficulties such as limitations caused by the treatment, making adaptations to reconcile tasks according to their current possibilities, due to the fact of being a chronic kidney patient. Given this, the prevalence is male, with a period of less than 12 months of treatment, who complain about the difficulties faced due to limitations regarding treatment and ambiguous feelings when knowing that they have a chronic disease and are kidney patients.
