Abstract

EnglishThrough different textual sources, the aim of this paper is to analyze the perception about the “Muslim” and Islamic art, focusing on the study of steam baths. These facilities, used by Christians after centuries of coexistence were seen as the al-Andalus conquest progressed, as a place for debauchery and lust, while it is nowadays just another monument that delights visitors who step in to marvel at its skylights. We will thus deal with the paradigmatic example in the Iberian Peninsula: the Bath of Comares in Granada, where we will show different perceptions of the same space across time, comparing it with others spread across the Iberian geography.
