Abstract

This chapter presents an overview on the Elisha texts and the question of insertion of Elisha tradition in 2 Kings. 2 Kings is a series of stories opened in the second book of Kings, which will focus Elisha. The beginning of prophetic effectiveness of Elisha is recognized in the Omrides time. The stories show Elisha in connection with different people. Much of the narrative shows Elisha in connection with kings and rulers. Broad consensus will be adopted in the northern kingdom for the foundation of Elisha tradition in 2 Kings. The chapter discusses the problems in originally separated collection(s) of the Elisha tradition. It discusses the prophet and king in the Elisha tradition.
