Abstract

This chapter presents an overview on the book of Kings and the Deuteronomic problem. It discusses the prophecy and Deuteronomistic history. The chapter demonstrates the existence of a Deuteronomic-prophetic layer or compilation (DTrp) next to the first Deuteronomistic layer of the historian. It discusses the Gottingen model that provides the solution to the Deuteronomic problem in a different direction. So many reasons lead to the assumption that there was no Deuteronomic-prophetic layer or compilation in the book of Kings. The last summary of history in the Deuteronomistic historical work is of cardinal importance for the development of this historical work. The last two texts of Noth's theory are therefore particularly important because most of the speeches in the Deuteronomistic history books show a broader historical interpretive perspective. The original text of the chapter is in German. Keywords: deuteronomic-prophetic layer; deuteronomistic historical work; Gottingen model; Noth's theory; prophecy
