Abstract

This paper deals with theoretical considerations of didactic and methodological apparatus necessary for the junior primary school grade readers. The readers whose structures of the didactic and methodological apparatus used in all primary school grades have been analyzed are published by Zavod za udžbenike, Kreativni centar, Nova skola and Eduka. Selection of readers is done in accordance with the criteria of frequency of use in the schools of Republic of Serbia. A reader is a course book sui generis. The Law on course book and other teaching aids in its article 2 defines a course book as follows: A course book is a basic compulsory didactically shaped teaching aid in any form or media, which is used in educational work for gaining qualitative knowledge, skills, establishing of value attitudes and development of intellectual abilities of pupils, contents of which are defined by the approved curriculum in accordance with this law. Structure of such didactic and methodological apparatus comprises its variety as well as its adequacy to the literary artistic texts, the pupils' age and the curriculum i.e. syllabus objectives. The aim of the paper is to point to an important part - that is a balance in the didactic and methodological use so as not to be overused and also to allow for free opinion in an interpretation of literary work.
