Abstract
The quality of water for hemodialysis (HD) is a concern for all dialysis centers because of its impact on the health of HD patients. There are guidelines by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) for maximum limits for chemical contaminants, bacterial colony-forming units, and endotoxin limits. But some of the contaminants like fungus and algae are still missing from guidelines. Impurities in dialysis water can lead to many health issues among the HD community and it can increase the mortality rate as well. The present paper focuses on the different contaminants in dialysis water and their health impacts on the HD community.
