Abstract

Bronchograms of 50 cases of peripheral lung cancer were studied, and their diagnostic value and limitations are discussed. The diagnostic value was: 88 % in the 4th order bronchus, 80 % in the 5th order bronchus, 55 % in the 6th order onward peripherally. On the average the diagnostic rate with selective bronchography was 84 %. Due to poor bronchography, accurate diagnosis could not be made in 6 % of cases. Differential diagnosis of 34 chronic inflammatory lesions is also discussed.
