Abstract
The present work describes the development of efficient spectroscopy-based analytical method for the determination of oxcarbazepine (OXC) using silver nanoparticles. The proposed method is simple, accurate, and reproducible. It employs green synthesized silver nanoparticles for the detection and estimation of OXC. In the estimation method, aliquots of OXC are made to react with silver nanoparticles in an ammoniacal medium to produce a yellow color that can be measured spectrophotometrically. A calibration curve was plotted that showed a linear response in absorbance with an increase in the concentration of the drug. The method is then validated for precision and accuracy according to ICH guidelines. Different parameters like optimized reagent concentrations, sequence of addition of reagents, the effects of temperature, pH, and waiting period before spectroscopic analysis are performed. The method was also tested for intra-day and inter-day precision and the effect of excipients to assess its ruggedness.
