Abstract

We prepared and evaluated 5m long and 1kA-class go & return high-Tc superconducting bus bar. The high-Tc superconducting wires were prepared by a powder-in-tube method using a Bi-2223 superconductor. For a long and large current carrying bus bar, FRP spacer which was 5m in length and equipped with 10 spiral grooves was used. Unit conductors were prepared by stacking 9 wires in each spiral groove in order to reduce the magnetic field produced by the large current by means of carring the current alternatively. The unit conductors could carry 261A in average in liquid nitrogen. The bus bar could carry and return 1230A in liquid nitrogen.
