Abstract

We prepared and evaluated 10kA-class go & return high-Tc superconducting bus bar. The high-Tc superconducting wires were prepared by a powder-in-tube method using a Bi-2223 superconductor. A uint conductor was prepared by stacking 250 wires in the direction to reduce a magnetic field vertically applied to the tape surface. The unit conductors could carry 2.8kA in average. 10 unit conductors were gathered on a decagonal FRP spacer. The decagonal structure reduces the magnetic field induced by a large current. The bus bar was immersed in liquid nitrogen and observed to carry 10.3kA when current was alternately conducted from uints to units. This proves that the high-Tc superconducting bus bar is a promising candiate for practical use as a very large current conductor.
