Abstract
This paper introduces a method for determining the characteristic impedance of transmission lines by using the comparison of two calibrations. While the previously reported calibration comparison methods are based on a two-tier calibration, in the proposed method all of the calibration standards are measured using an uncalibrated vector network analyzer (VNA). Previously reported calibration comparison methods compares only calibration techniques implemented using T-parameters. The method proposed in this paper is able to determine the line impedance by comparing calibration techniques implemented using either T- or ABCD-parameters.
