Abstract

This paper presents a method for determining the characteristic impedance ( Z L ) of transmission lines embedded in reciprocal transitions. This method is based in two properties: (1) a reliable method for calculating the propagation constant ( γ) of reflecting lines, and (2) the calculation of the S 11 parameter of each transition employed for this kind of transmission lines. For calculating the characteristic impedance of these lines, the proposed method uses measurements of two transmission lines with different lengths.
