Abstract

Methods of GPC of linear nonhydrolysed polyacrylamides were developed, in which macroporous glass with average pore diameter of 10 2−6×10 3 Å is used as sorbent and a mixture of water, ethanol, glycerol and tartaric acid (taken in a ratio of 92·9 : 6·0 : 1·02 : 0·04) as eluant. The methods enable MD and average M of polyacrylamides to be determined up to M = 5 × 10 6. Testing the methods using polyacrylamide samples obtained by anionic polymerization in argon shows that molecular polydispersion M w/ M n of these samples, calculated from GPC data and measured independently, show fairly satisfactory agreement.
